Description

Macrolide antibiotic with remarkable anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. Prescribed at low doses long-term in BO for its anti-inflammatory effect on the airways, independent of any bacterial infection. It is one of the most studied treatments in BO, particularly post-transplant (bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome / BOS). Several studies have shown improved lung function and reduced bronchial inflammation.
